ICYF-DC President, H.E. Amb. Elshad Iskandarov, led the ICYF-DC delegation that attended the Intergovernmental Experts Group Meeting on the OIC Youth Strategy that was held at the OIC Headquarters in Jeddah on 08-09 January 2018.
The Meeting was stewarded by Amb. Salih Mutlu Şen, (Republic of Turkey) in its capacity as the 3rd ICYSM Chair and assisted by the Assistant Secretary General for Culture, Humanitarian and Social Issues of the OIC H.E. Ambassador Hesham Youssef, Ambassador Iskandarov, ICYF-DC President, and H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ben Salah Al Karnas, ISSF Secretary General.
The meeting was an opportunity for OIC Member States to thoroughly discuss and present further inputs and recommendations into the draft OIC Youth Strategy drafted by SESRIC in cooperation with ICYF-DC and in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat in line with decisions of the 3rd Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (5-7 October 2016, Istanbul). Among the new items to be included into the Strategy is the fight against “illegal migration”, a draft that is to be finally adopted by the 4th ICYSM, to be held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, in April 2018.
During his address to the meeting on the Joint Youth Policy Amb. Iskandarov underlined the importance of a long-overdue OIC Youth Strategy that allows for comprehensive development and empowerment of youth of the Member States. The ICYF-DC President also provided the Member States with detailed information on the numerous activities of the Institution since October 2016 in implementation of the Joint Youth Action Plan (JYAP) adopted at the 3rd ICYSM. He also stressed the importance of active attendance by Member States at the highest level at the activities of “Al-Quds OIC Youth Capital 2018” programmed to be launched in February 2018 in solidarity to the cause of Al-Quds, as unanimously declared by the Member States at the last OIC Extraordinary Summit on Al-Quds, held in Istanbul in December 2017.
