Insufficient public control sometimes leads to violations and delays of plans, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with TASS news agency.
“We very realistically assess the level of political reforms and achievements. We believe that the maximum was made during the 26 years of independence, taking into account our history, formation of Azerbaijan as a young and independent state, geographical location, and the existing and possible risks in our region,” noted the head of state.
The president noted the strengthening of public control among those directions that need to be further developed.
“I have also repeatedly spoken about this topic and called on citizens to take more active steps to control the implementation of reforms, because a lot is being done in Azerbaijan in terms of social and economic development and infrastructure development,” he said.
He went on to add that efforts to democratize Azerbaijan will continue, it is an open country.
“We have deliberately chosen this path, and we will continue to implement develop both political and economic reforms,” added the president.
