No civilians were injured during the Operation Olive Branch in Syria’s Afrin city, Turkish Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli said, the country’s media reported Jan. 31.
He noted that the Turkish Armed Forces strike only the targets of terrorists of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG).
The information disseminated in some Western media outlets that civilians were killed as a result of the Operation Olive Branch is provocative and false, he added.
On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.
