The 11th February – a conference dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was held jointly with Republic Centre for Children’s and Youth Development of Azerbaijan (RCCYD) of the Ministry of Education and the Science Development Foundation (SDF).
The main objective of the Conference was to identify the causes of gender inequalities in science, technology and innovation, and to organize action programs for women and girls to participate in scientific research.
At the conference, director of RCCYD Firuza Sultan-zade spoke of the role of women and achievements in the socio-political life of Azerbaijan.
The role of academician Zarifa Aliyeva, prominent orientalist Aida Imanguliyeva, academician Rafiga Aliyeva, First Vice President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and other women in the history of science and education of the country has specially been emphasized.
SDF Executive Director, PhD in Physics and Mathematics Elchin Babayev spoke about the achievements of women in the world, gender equality in science, the situation in Azerbaijan and wide opportunities created by the state.
Later on, a video clip entitled “Women and Girls in Science” was shown.
Finally, 50 girls, who are distinguished for the development of science, have been awarded diplomas.
