Well-known theologian, oriental scientist, academician Vasim Mammadaliyev died at the age of 77 after a long illness, APA reports.
The farewell ceremony to V. Mammadaliyev will take place at the Baku State University, where he worked for many years.
Vasim Mammadaliyev was born on August 27, 1942 in Kurdakhani village of Baku. 1949-1959 – Studied at the school number 113 in Baku. He, together with academician Ziya Bunyadov, for the first time translated the Koran into the Azerbaijani language during the Soviet regime. He is the author of 20 books, more than 600 scientific articles. His works have been published in more than 15 countries.
V. Mammadaliyev was also awarded with the Orders of Honor and the Glory.
